Celebrated annually on April 22, many organizations, communities, and schools extend the celebration of EARTH DAY into "Earth Week" or even "Earth Month" throughout April to maximize environmental action, community cleanups, and education. Let’s mark this international day of global awareness with the story of Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan's 1519-22 epic voyage that opened trade routes connecting much of the world, including the North American continent.
